Life Changes Course
March 2, 2019 became a pivotal day in my life and that of my family. My mother passed away.
Even though we are all over 50, my siblings and I are orphans. I have to find new things to fill my afternoons and evenings as I will not be spending them with mom any more.
One thing is certain, our parents raised us right; we are a tight-knit group of five clinging to each other in the aftermath of death. I have a whole new respect for my siblings in how we all rallied around mom giving her the comforts of home from which to leave this earth.
To give my mother the most comfort in her last week of life, we enlisted the assistance of Hospice. I am convinced Hospice hires angels in disguise as their caregivers. The team that was assigned to her were so personal and real. Hospice left behind a little blue book that talks about death and a story in the back sums it all up perfectly. While we are here saying good-bye and wiping away tears of sadness, there is a welcoming party going on in Heaven as she arrives. It’s a helpful visual, but the pain of loss still stings. To God be the Glory, Mom is not suffering anymore. We are all at peace knowing this, but we miss her sweet, gentle soul.
Mom was ready to meet Jesus and all those who have gone before her. I know she is living eternally and God prepared a very special room for her with a new kitchen.
On this side of Heaven, life changes course. I am blessed to share in the DNA of my parents as they were really great people. My journey continues without my earthly parents, yet I am so thankful that my Father God continues to be with me.
Until we meet again, mom, know that your baby girl loves you and misses you.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
