I got all choked up and I didn’t even know them.
From toddler to Grandpa their ages ranged; probably ten people altogether. Standing in the middle of the walkway, whomever they were waiting for would not have an opportunity to miss them. Three members of this group held signs and stood in the forefront. The toddler, past his bedtime, was antsy. They looked like a school of fish swimming upstream as people walked toward them looking for faces they recognized.
As the young couple with a baby turned the corner, I watched the smiles grow as anticipation faded away. Bags were dropped while hugs, kisses and handshakes erupted. The family was whole again.
Although this was my eye-witness account at the airport the other night, I cannot stop thinking…this is what Heaven will be like.
