Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24

Claimed Baggage

If you cannot pay your bill after a meal in a restaurant, you wash dishes until your debt is paid. In correlation, does this mean that I have to work in the baggage claim if I cannot pay for my baggage check-in?

Today* I am flying to my home in Michigan after spending a few days on a business trip in California. After each swipe of my debit card** at the airport, computers beeped and their screens read, “Do not honor.” 😦

Enter the lump in my throat and the empty feeling in my stomach. I am thankful to be traveling with a co-worker. He came to my rescue and bailed me out by offering his working credit card so I would not have to work the baggage claim and miss my much anticipated flight.

Upon our death, we will be handed a bill for all the sins we committed while on earth. Talk about a lump in the throat and empty feeling in the stomach moment. We will be escorted to Hades to eternally work off all our sins. However, if we traveled with Jesus during our life on earth, he will intercept the bill and hand it to God. When God looks at it, He will see only the word “ACCEPTED“. Jesus claims our baggage and we will be escorted to our place in heaven.

John 3:16(NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
